This review is regarding the seller, Musician’s Friend. I have been a customer of this company for a couple of years and had always given them great reviews. In the past 6 months, something has gone terribly wrong with their inventory department and customer service. I have on more than one occasion 1) not received an item in my order and have also received a completely incorrect item. The last instance I will relate here: I ordered a Buffet R13 professional clarinet costing $2,567.00. I received a Picolo Trumpet…whatever that is. It was bad enough I received the wrong item, but it was packed in a box much larger than the instrument case with already popped bubble wrap that was half open. So, this instrument was just sliding around this box the entire shipping journey. I called Musician’s Friend to report the problems and my initial intention was to have them send the correct item. However, after speaking to a cust rep, I was informed that I would have to send the incorrect instrument back, they would have to receive it BEFORE they would send out the correct (hopefully correct) item. This was a return because of THEIR screw-up. They didn’t seem to care that I was a frequent customer in good standing. I told them that they should send out the correct instrument immediately and if they didn’t get their stupid trumpet back they could charge my account for it! They said the only way they would send the correct instrument out immediately is if I purchased it AGAIN. So, I told them I would have to think about whether I wished to continue to deal with their company. I got off the phone and located the same instrument locally several hundred dollars cheaper so I called them back and told them I just wanted a credit. So, I had to pack the trumpet back up and wait for UPS to pick it up. I was told by MF that the credit would be processed within 24 hours of their receipt of return. They received the trumpet on the 9th of November. Today is the 14th and my credit card still has not been credited. I called MF and inquired and was told it had not been processed yet and the cust rep could not tell me why. She put me on hold for several minutes and came back and said “well, it seems since you paid with Paypal it is taking longer and it will be 3-5 days until you see the credit to your card”. She said this as if it was MY fault for the delay because I used Paypal! So, in the meantime, the credit card attached to Paypal has a balance of 2567.00 (I don’t carry balances on my cards and never pay interest or finance charges because I pay them all off before the end of the billing cycle) and it is VERY CLOSE to the end of the billing cycle so, if the credit doesn’t get processed before the finance charges are assessed, who is going to pay the finance charges??? I’m sure it isn’t going to be MF! Like I said, this has not been an isolated incident because I can understand if I company makes one mistake but this company has declined steadily and I will certainly not be doing business with them again nor will I recommend them to anyone as I had in the past.

R 13’s are the zenith choice for both intermediate players as well as professionals. Amazon selling these instruments kindof gives me an uneasy feeling, because they don’t specialize in instrument selling, unlike websites such as wwbw.com, and do not do play tests for optimal performance. any musician should understand that the instrument of this high caliber should be the best of the bunch that they get, and amazon should seek ways to improve selling the best instruments
